A 5mm CZ in a firework cut, held in four prongs. The faceting radiates outward from the center in a starburst pattern rather than the usual brilliant arrangement, so light breaks up across the stone in lines instead of a single flash.

At 5mm this is one of the largest single stones we carry — noticeably bigger than a standard 3mm or 4mm CZ, and meant to be the piece your eye goes to. The prong setting lifts it clear of the ear so light reaches it from every side.

How threadless works: the top has a small pin on the back. Bend the pin slightly, slide it into the hollow end of a threadless labret bar, and the tension holds it in place. More bend equals a tighter hold. If a top ever feels loose, take it out and add a little more bend to the pin.

Choosing a bar: tops are universal across gauges, but the bar is not. Pick your bar by the gauge and length of the piercing you're wearing it in.

• 16G — helix, tragus, conch, daith, cartilage
• 18G — earlobe, cartilage, nostril
• 20G — earlobe, nostril

A note on size: at 5mm this top sits wider than most. It suits lobes and roomier cartilage placements better than tight spots like a snug helix, and it needs a little clearance around it in an ear stack.
