Collection: Opal Jewelry

Opal is the stone people choose when they want colour without a stone that reads as formal. It shifts as the light moves — blue to green to pink depending on the angle — which is why a single opal stud looks different in every photo you take of it.

This collection covers our opal pieces: nose studs and hoops, flat back labret studs, hinged hoops, threadless tops and barbells.

Every opal we use is synthetic rather than natural. That is the right choice for body jewelry. Natural opal is porous and soft enough to chip, while synthetic opal has the same play of colour with the durability to survive daily wear, cleaning and the occasional knock. It also means the colour is consistent, so a matched pair actually matches.

Settings come in both implant-grade titanium and 316L surgical steel, and each product page states which. For a healing piercing, or if your ears react easily, choose titanium — it is ASTM F-136 and nickel-free. Steel is a good option once a piercing has settled.

Opals are set flush or bezel-mounted rather than prong-held, which keeps the surface smooth and gives hair and fabric nothing to catch on.

Browse opal by piercing in nose rings, nose studs and stud earrings. For a brighter, clearer stone see moissanite, or compare materials in titanium and 316L steel.
