Marquise cut moissanites set upright along the front of the hoop, fanning outward like rays. The marquise is pointed at both ends, and standing them on end rather than laying them flat is what creates the fan — the stones radiate rather than sitting in a line.

Front facing means the fan sits toward the viewer, so the shape reads clearly straight on. At 0.05ct each these are larger stones than a typical small-stone hoop, and the marquise cut makes each one longer than a round of the same weight.

The 8mm carries 7 stones, the 10mm carries 9 — the larger hoop has room for a wider fan.

These are D color, VVS clarity stones. D is the highest color grade, meaning completely colorless, and VVS clarity means any inclusions are extremely difficult to see even under magnification.

Why moissanite: moissanite is silicon carbide, lab-grown rather than mined. It rates 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale against a diamond's 10, so it resists scratching and holds its polish far better than cubic zirconia, which dulls with everyday wear. Its refractive index of 2.65–2.69 is higher than a diamond's 2.42 — meaning it throws more fire, not less.

Choosing a diameter: 8mm sits close to the piercing; 10mm hangs a little lower with more movement and carries two extra stones. For daith and septum, 8mm is the more common fit. Measure your current hoop across the inside if you're unsure.

A note on placement: the fan stands up off the band rather than sitting flush, so it needs a little clearance around it. Worth keeping in mind if the piercing sits tight against the rim or close to another piece.
