Huggie Hoop Earrings

A huggie sits tight against the ear rather than hanging off it. The gap is minimal, there is almost no swing, and the result reads as neat rather than statement — which is why huggies have become the default for anyone building a stacked ear.

The tight fit is also the practical argument. A large hoop has open space for hair and fabric to pass through and leverage when something pulls on it. A huggie has neither, which makes it the hoop to wear if you sleep on your side, wear your hair down, or pull sweaters over your head without thinking.

Because they sit close, diameter matters more than with a larger hoop. Too small and it presses; too large and you lose the hugging effect that makes it a huggie. Diameter is measured on the inside of the ring, so the piece sits slightly larger than the number suggests.
